A wet tile saw is exactly what you're looking for when you're doing a home remodel. The tiles that one uses in their home are made out of ceramic and are quite brittle and thick, hence special saws need to be used for cutting them. The general circular saws that are used for cutting metal or wood would break up the tile or overheat and stop running altogether. Apart from that, these sharp blades are not suitable for cutting ceramic tiles. It was keeping in mind these unique properties of ceramic that the wet tile saw was invented. It uses a comparatively dull blade without any serrations, does not overheat, and can be easily transported to the job site. The wet tile saw cuts a channel through the tile. Instead of sharpened metal, diamond or sharp sand crystals are used. A plastic hose connected to a reservoir holding water is used to spray the tile surface and blade with a stream of cold water.
